RULES OF SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES OF SUPERIORITY

Short adjectives:
They have one syllable, or two syllables and they end with-y.
small ...the smallest
big.....the biggest
happy...the happiest

Long adjectives:
Most of them have two syllables (except when they end with -y)
or three syllables, even more.
pleasant - modern
intelligent ...the most intelligent
beautiful...the most beautiful

Irregular superlatives:
good...the best
bad...the worst
far...the farthest / the furthest

 Some adjectives can be used with -est or -the most
clever : the cleverest/ the most clever
